ND Legislative Update

ND Legislative Update

by Kayla Pulvermacher, State Legislative Director

This week the Legislature is back in full swing after a rough few rough days last week.

The priority bill this week is HB 1366, the repairman lien bill.  As you probably remember, DakCU worked alongside other interested parties on amendments that dealt with provisions and protections that are required under Uniform Commercial Code, which the bill lacked.  With last minute amendments attached by the Autodealer’s Association, repairmen would now be able to add up to 60% more repair costs onto a piece of property before they would have to notify any other lienholders.  We’ll again work with the Financial Coalition to make this bill better for our members.

Other bills up this week include COVID-19 liability immunity for businesses, abandoned property in self-storage facilities, and electronic drivers licenses.
