ND Legislative Update by Kayla Pulvermacher, State Legislative Director This week the Legislature is back in full swing after a rough few rough days last week. The priority bill this week is HB 1366, the repairman lien bill. As you probably remember, DakCU worked alongside other interested parties on amendments that dealt with provisions and protections that are required under Uniform Commercial Code, which the bill lacked. With last minute amendments attached by the Autodealer’s Association, repairmen would now be able to add up to 60% more repair costs onto a piece of property before they would have to notify any other lienholders. We’ll again work with the Financial Coalition to make this bill better for our members. Other bills up this week include COVID-19 liability immunity for businesses, abandoned property in self-storage facilities, and electronic drivers licenses. Virtual Hike the Hill Our 2021 Hike the Hill meetings begin Thursday, March 11. All DakCU member employees and volunteers are invited to participate but you must register in advance! To sign up for these meetings and any additional meetings that may be scheduled throughout the spring visit our events page or simply use this link. We will distribute instructions to attend to those who have registered. Here is our current schedule: North Dakota March 11, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. CT – Virtual Meeting with Senator Hoeven March 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CST – Virtual Meeting with Congressman Armstrong South Dakota March 17, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. CST – Virtual Meeting with Senator John Thune March 19, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. CST – Conference Call with Senator Mike Rounds If you have any questions please reach out to Jeff Olson, Jay Kruse or me, Kayla Pulvermacher.
